Stick & Stay

Today was pretty slow, the high field shot 25 but the low field was 0 and we had two 1’s. Not a great day in the snow goose fields, but they happen. Persistence pay off, our guide Curt had one group left at about 10:30. At that time they had 1 goose. I guess they were going to jump shoot geese on their own, that’s another story we won’t get into. It was a mixed field of two parties. The second party hunts until about 2:30ish. At that time the total was 6 or 7 geese. Guides Curt and Joe set there the rest of the day, shooting 5 more birds and this banded blue. They didn’t kill everything so with more guns it would have likely been more birds. It’s hunting guys, there are good and bad days. Ride the hole, we typically shoot birds off and on all day, sometimes you get a reward too! The banded bird was another old one. Banded in 2011, hatched in 2010 or earlier. This is band number 4 for the year, all of them have been old birds. Almost all the bands we get now are 8-15-year-old birds.
