We might be in for a bit of a weather event to kick off the 2023 Snow Goose Season. 

Here is what I sent to our hunters…

If you have yet to look at the forecast Tue-Thu morning, there is forecasted freezing rain. The worst of it is supposed to happen Tue and Wed. My biggest concern is guys traveling to town and the hunt on Wed morning. We need to be safe first.

We plan on hunting as long as it is safe to drive to the fields. If it is not safe, we will not go out. There are birds here now, provided it doesn’t get bad enough to push them south.

If you want to avoid risking that ice, you can move to open dates in Arkansas, Iowa, or South Dakota.

There are a lot of unknowns. There is no way for me to know how this storm will develop. Right now, it isn’t even raining (7 pm). We will see what the morning brings.

The picture is of Curt’s truck at about 8:45 pm. A little weather has happened. Only time will tell how bad it gets.
