An average day in the field. A strong wind out of the north has put the breaks on the number of flocks headed toward Missouri. We saw a handful of flocks migrating north, but nothing like we have seen with the weekday hunters this past week. Our best field was 42, and our low field was 7. Our fields doing the best right now are near staging flocks. One of the areas that normally roost birds doesn’t have any, so it is more of a migrating field this year. Every day is a little different.
I ended up having to take the dog to the vet today. Something poked him between the toes. As stupid as they look, I’m considering boots for the dog. This is the 3rd time in 10 years that my dog is out of commission for the same thing. Aaron’s dog is also having foot issues from when we had the ice.
We have plenty of room Mon-Thu for anybody wanting to jump into the field. Hunting has been pretty good so far. Call Brad at 563-380-7122 for detail and dates.
