It was a very different day today. The cold north wind howled early, then died to a decent wind mid-morning. My field had migrators push south all morning and part of the evening. It ranked as number 1 or 2 as the best migration day (for the number of birds seen) for me this year. However, I could not pull many from those big flocks, and several fields didn’t see any migration. One didn’t seem to many birds and shot a zero. It was the first one of the year, and it was also the low field for the day. Our best field was 48 snow geese. They had big mobs of birds working in tight, all from the north. Every day is different. We may have lost most of the birds in our area. I assume they went south with the cold – too bad because they were good birds. They will be coming back this week. The forecast calls for a lot of south winds over the next several days.
