Feb 18 – Half Day Hunt

Today was that last hunt for our weekend guys. It was fairly slow compared to the rest of the year. The cold front we got on Friday pushed most of the birds out of the area. I’m pretty sure they didn’t go north since most of the flocks we have watched the last two days are birds from the north headed south. Pretty much all of the juvy’s have disappeared out of the flocks they fly over. Looking at the forecast for the next few days, it looks like migration weather. Migrating juvy’s could make the last week of our season interesting. Time will tell.

The picture is from my field, which shot 11. Ten in the pictures and 1 more as we loaded gear in the ATV trailer. It was 10 adult Ross and a blue goose. Our best field was 27 today, and our worst was 2. It is a slower day, but they are bound to happen even during this banner year.
