I’m back in Mound City. There are a number of snow geese in the area with migrating flocks of snow geese moving up throughout the day. I stepped outside at about 10 pm last night and snow geese were flying over. The refuge still has a bunch of ice on it but the snow goose pool has 10-15,000 on it. Bob Brown is holding several thousand as well. Although I have not driven by it yet I would imagine that the duck lakes north of the refuge are holding birds too.
We shot 17 snow geese yesterday on half day hunt. The birds so far are working like champs…10-20 yard shots for the most part. If this keeps up it is going to be a bloody spring snow goose season. There is a pretty fair number of juvy’s in the mix.
