Sunday’s half-day hunt was decent. About half the fields did well, and about half were in single digits. If they had hunted full days, most would have been in the teens. Our best field shot 80 birds, and the slowest shot 3. Both fields are migrator fields, meaning there are generally no birds on the ground. We pick them off as they fly over, heading north. I was in the high field. We didn’t see a ton of migration. We saw a decent amount of them. The field that shot 3 didn’t see much at all. Sometimes, a little luck is involved.
We built in the half-day hunts to do the many things that needed to be done as we ran these hunts. Sometimes, all that is to get caught up on sleep. Other days, it turns into a lot of work. We have some room Monday-Thursday this week and next if anyone can make it. Hunting has been good this year to date.
