There was very low wind today, and it showed. Our best field shot 37 snow geese, and our lowest shot 6, with an average of 17.4. It was a nice, average day — a pretty typical snow goose hunt.
In my field, if we’d had wind, we would’ve done much better. The birds were working us at tough angles. Even so, we shot 22 by 11 a.m. We had one 4‑pack work us mid‑day and got all four. The rest came in the last two hours.
Tomorrow we’ve got a better SE wind at 10–15, but there’s rain in the forecast. Sometimes that helps us, other times it hurts. In 24 hours we will know.
