For a half‑day hunt, it turned out to be a pretty good one. Our best group shot 45, and our lowest field finished with 8, giving us a 20‑bird average. That’s a solid day considering most groups only hunted until noon.

We had heavy rain last night and into the morning, but it finally quit around 7:30. A cold north wind pushed in behind it, and things are pretty wet right now — waders are nice to have, and waterproof clothing is a must.
Two of the fields had family members of guides, so those groups hunted all day.

The next several days look interesting — warm temps and south winds, which is a pretty good combination this time of year.

Today marks one full week of hunting. We’re sitting just under 1,200 snow geese harvested, with an average of 23 birds per hunt. A solid start to the season — well, a delayed start — but once the snow cleared out, things really came together.
