One group hunted in the cold today until they couldn’t take it anymore. They managed to shoot three geese before calling it quits. Although temperatures were still in the 20s this afternoon, the weather felt much nicer. The sun was out and had enough strength to melt most of the snow. It’s a welcome sight, and hopefully, this marks the end of the bitter cold for the year. Tomorrow looks to be our last cold day before the warm-up begins on Saturday. We’re ready for a change after enduring several days of challenging conditions. The season so far has been pretty disappointing overall. With the great hunting many experienced last fall, I had much higher expectations for 2025 than we’ve seen.

The cold and rainy weather has made hunting tough. The snow goose migration has been slow, and the reverse migration due to the cold hasn’t brought the numbers back we were hoping for. It’s been a season of patience and persistence.

Looking ahead, the forecast is promising. Saturday is expected to bring temperatures near 40 degrees, and Sunday looks even better, with highs around 50 degrees and a south wind. These conditions could spark a snow goose migration northward and improve hunting opportunities. As noted in our spring snow goose migration report, warmer weather often brings better success.
