I will get my first look at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge tomorrow. As of Feb 3 the refuge says they are holding just over 450,000 snow geese. It is a lot of birds for this time of the year but with the mild winter there have been birds in northern Missouri all winter. Now before everybody gets all excited about the dates you have booked, I still see nothing that makes me think this year will go down any different than the previous 11 years.
I keep saying this over and over again that many of you are overlooking some very good dates in February. If the bird numbers remain at this level once we start running hunts we will likely do pretty well.
