Too much wind is just as bad as no wind. I might even prefer hunting low winds to heavy wind days. Today it was howling. It makes for hard shooting as the birds get out really fast. Nevertheless, we had a solid day. Our best field was 48, and our low field was 20. I’ll take that any day of the season. Tomorrow is the last day of our season, and rain is forecasted. On Friday, I will head down to pull the remaining decoy spreads and take them back to Iowa on Saturday. 

We planned to move to South Dakota on Saturday to finish our last leg of the spring season, but mother nature has different plans this year. Much, if not all of South Dakota is covered in snow, and more is forecasted for tomorrow.  The 10-day forecast in the northern part of the state where we hunt doesn’t have any snow-melting temps. Because of the heavy snowpack conditions and the forecasted weather trend, we are canceling South Dakota this year. I really have a love-hate relationship with South Dakota. I love hunting there, but I hate the spring weather. It is so much more unstable than Arkansas or Iowa.
