Today was a cold start, with lots of wind. It was one of the few days we have had sun and wind. We did average today, the high field shot 31, while the low field shot 5 for a 16 bird average. Teen’s and twenties are average hunts. I’m busy laying the groundwork for our move to Iowa. Everybody is all a buzz about Squaw Creek holding 900,000 snow geese. It might be a few days early, but since 2001 my experience is that area holds a bunch of birds by the last week for Feb. I have also gotten reports of snow geese still in Lousianna, as well as some in South Dakota. The migration is strung out this year, which is not all that uncommon, and usually gives us better hunting because the hunter pressure is spread out.
