This morning I left the house at 5:30 headed for Marshall, MO. The reports on the website were saying 140K however after arriving and burning several tanks of gas driving around I got the feeling that there wasn’t that many there anymore. I did find them though, or should we say they found us. Mound City had a lot of migrating snow geese arrive today. I hit Smithville on the return trip. There was probably 5-10K there. When I arrived at the refuge in Mound City the sky was full of geese. Who knows how long they had been leaving to feed. The geese are also using a couple duck lakes in the area for roosts. We are going to hunt in the morning to get a feel for just how many are here now.
